DPPC, a variant of phophatidylcholine, is an amphipathic phospholipid used for gene and drug delivery formulations. DPPC has been shown to have excellent biodegradability and drug encapsulation capacity, and when combined with other lipids has high cellular uptake, making it ideal for use in liposomal formulations. DPPC is also an integral element of pulmonary surfactants and is often used when studying bilayers found in the human body.?
