D-Ile-Pro-Arg-AMC is a fluorogenic substrate for tissue plasminogen-activator (tPA) a serine protease found on endothelial cells lining blood vessels. tPA is the major enzyme responsible for clot breakdown by converting plasminogen to plasmin.
Activity is quantified by release of free fluorescent 7-amino-4-methylcoumarin (AMC) which excites at 360-380 nm and emits at 440-460 nm.
