1,2-Dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DMPE) is derivative of phosphatidylethanolamine with (14:0) myristic acid acyl chains. Phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) is formed primarily in the reaction of CDP-ethanolamine and diacylglycerol. PE is one of the major components of cell membranes in bacteria and in nervous system. It is useful in liposome production.
