1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DSPE) is a derivative of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) with (18:0) stearic acid acyl chains. Phosphatidylethanolamine is formed primarily in the reaction of CDP-ethanolamine and diacylglycerol. PE is one of the major components of cell membranes in bacteria and in nervous system.
